What does a Yoga Therapist do?
Meet with client one on one in person or virtually
Conduct an intake & assessment
Develops a personalized Yoga Therapy Treatment Plan for client
Follow up sessions over several weeks, revise plans, continues toward client’s goals
Motivate, empower (not fix), hold space, be authentic, offer permission, compassion, confidentiality, listen, ask integral questions, welcome your darkness to help balance it.
What are the client's responsibilities?
The client must be a willing and active participant, dedicate and give time to the process, create self-discipline for best results, understand the work is a journey, and establish a routine and practice that will support healing.
What does a session look like?
Generally, the initial intake can take up to 90 minutes with follow up sessions at 75 minutes over the course of 4-12 weeks (or months) with weekly or bi-weekly sessions. This is contingent upon the client's goals and personalized treatment plans. We can meet in person with a private home visit or virtually. Sessions can include asana practice, meditation, yoga Nidra, somatic & embodiment practices, yogic philosophy & spirituality, sound therapy, suggested reading, mindset development, lifestyle suggestions, pranayama (breathwork), and may include homework. Treatment plans often begin simply and can be revised along the way to meet client’s goals.
